The Current Transportation Solutions team updated the Transportation Development Plan (TDP) for Butte-Silver Bow Transit. The updated plan guides the General Manager, the Transportation Advisory Committee (TAC), and other stakeholders in assessing transportation conditions and implementing improvements over a five-year period.

Following completion of the TDP, BSBT contracted with Current Transportation to help implement several one-year recommendations including:

  • reconfiguring the route on one of Butte’s most important arterials to increase service to 30 minute headways
  • changing all bus stops from flag stops to fixed stops
  • improving customer access to information about BSBT routes and services by creating a new printed schedule, website, trip planner, and General Transit Feed Specification (GTFS) for BSBT’s fixed route service

This work included developing schedules and timetables and conducting fieldwork to ground truth service changes. All of these service improvements were implemented successfully with no cost increases to BSBT’s budget. Within six months of implementation ridership increased by 15%.
